Kazuko
Shiraishi was born in Vancouver Canada in
1931. She returned to Japan before World War?,
graduated Waseda University. She published more
than twenty poetry books. Lots of her poems
are translated into more than twenty languages
and her poetry books were published in many
countries, e.g. "Seasons Of Sacred Lust"
(New Directions), "Let Those Who Appear"
(New Directions), "Odysseus heute"
(edition KAPPA), "Mein Sandvolk" (edition
KAPPA) and "Viento Viento De La Ensenada"
(El Colegio de la Frontera Norte). She was invited
to many important poetry festivals and conferences
in the world. She received six prestigious poetry
and literature prizes, 'Purple Ribbon Medal'
from the Emperor of Japan, and 'the Order of
the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon'.
